Westminster Abbey

So today was very interesting we did many things like go on a boat to go sightseeing, went to an abbey, saw Big Ben ( it's a clock ), and ended up eating at a Mexican restaurant!

My favorite place we went to was Westminster Abbey! In Westminster Abbey I learned that there are many buried people in the church. We all went to see the high altar - it shines like butter on bread, yum. There were many things to see and do. My brother, sis and I did an activity worksheet and learned so much from that. Such as queens and kings had their coronation ceremony here, there is a special choir of boys, services are held every day, and there are many colorful works of art. I also saw where Queen Elizabeth I is buried.

London has been so terrific. I earned a prize for completing the worksheet on Westminster and I earned a chocolate coin. It was a marvelous day out so we sat on a grassy area by the abbey and ate sandwiches by Big Ben!

When we all were done eating, we headed to a boat and we went on a Thames River cruise. We saw lots of bridges like the London bridge, tower bridge, and Blackfriars Bridge. Also one of the crew told us about famous buildings on the riverside. One of my favorite was The Globe Theater - built exactly like William Shakespeare's theater. We got off the boat at Greenwich and ended the day with an observatory, museum and a lovely Mexican restaurant.

It was 8:30pm when we got home. Everyone was tired but we got to talk to our family in NJ until 10:40pm and then we hung up and went to bed.

The London Tower

Today my family and I were going into the city of London to investigate the tower. To get there we had to take 2 trains. When we got to the station Tower Hill, we went walking and we reached the tower entrance. My family and I gave the lady in the booth our passes, and we started our investigation!

First, we all walked to the first tower and we went in, there were pictures, lots of stairs, and many history to the complex. I wondered why all the buildings were so old but looked very suitable to walk around.

When my family and I were done looking around it was time for a tour. So we headed back to the entrance, put on our informations cap and we all were ready to learn. Did you know that the London tower is not one tower it is a complex of different towers with much history? Also did you know that this place had dungeons and a zoo? Also one thing I found absolutely amazing was that when people broke the rules, such as disliking the king or queen, that traitor was beheaded and then they were buried in a special place, the church by the tower? I know creepy, right?

We also got to see the Crown Jewels that the dukes, king and queens wore.

Great Barrier Reef

Yeah! Today was the day we are  going to swim at the Great Barrier Reef. First, we went on a submarine and we went under water it was a magnificent view. There were all kinds of multicolor fish, and coral.I saw a giant fish with blue skin. Also I saw huge amounts of seed weed. Then it was 1:00, time for lunch.

My family and I went to the buffet area and started dishing ourselves some food. They had chicken, rice and even more delicious food. After my family and got our snorkels, flippers and wet suits we jumped into the water.  My dad and sis swam longer then I did and they were lucky to see a fish named Wallie, and they got to pet it. On my swim I got to see coral, fish, and  lots of seed weed like in the submarine but it was so much cooler  because you got to see up close. I also got to see a jelly fish, man it was cool. When I was done I got some more food and then I got some Sprite and then went swimming again. The water felt cool and salty. When the whistle blew it was  time to go home so we returned our suits and went on the boat and rode it back home. I really liked the snorkeling trip and I hope you want to come to Australia and do this!
